Our School
In summer 2004, Nesting Primary School Staff welcomed their pupils into a brand new award-winning building. Rural and non-denominational, the school is situated fifteen miles north-east of Lerwick. The population of Nesting is very scattered and many pupils travel to and from the school by mini-bus.
The roll stands at 14 pupils.
Nesting Primary is an Eco School. We were awarded our First Flag in September 2004, and our Second Flag in June 2006. We achieved our third flag in 2009 and our 4th flag in 2011.
Nesting Primary was also awarded "Health Promoting School " status in May 2007, and renewed in 2008.
After P7 the pupils transfer to Anderson High School and details of this are intimated to their parents during their final year.
Where possible, we aim to make links with other small schools in our area, to allow our children to make new friends and enjoy social interaction with their wider peer group.

Pre-school pupils will be invited to visit Nesting Primary for one morning, including lunch, and one afternoon during the summer term, so enabling them to become familiar with their new environment. Our school has a close relationship with Little Tikes Playgroup at Tingwall which provides nursery education for the area.We make enquires at Little Tikes and Brae Nursery about the new August intake towards the beginning of the year. It is always helpful if parents can confirm that their child is intending to enrol up to a year ahead of time.

09.00 - 10.45 : First session for pupils
10.45 - 11.00 : Interval
11.00 - 12.45 : Second session
12.45 - 13.30 : Lunch time (Monday,Thursday & Friday)
13.30 - 15.00 : Afternoon session
12.30 - 13.15 : Lunch Time (Tuesday- Wednesday).
13.15 - 15.00 : Afternoon session
